My daughter is a high achiever for whom school has always been easy. The pace of a full load in the first year of high school, with four honors classes showed us very quickly that she didn't have true "study" skills. In four months we have seen an improvement in her grades. She was resistant to the concept of a tutor and did not initially welcome the visits. Now she looks forward to going and even goes early to use the center as a "library" to work on her homework. Zinab and the staff are wonderful. They really know how to reach the students. In addition, Zinab is communicating regularly with my daughter's teachers so that we are all working together. They also take an interest in the whole student - celebrating extracurricular triumphs and sharing disappointments. Zinab doesn't let my daughter make excuses for poor performance, but moves quickly to solutions for a better result, and holds her accountable at the same time. I think the effectiveness of all of this is enhanced by the fact that it's a third party working with my daughter, and not Mom. They are teaching her some skills that I tried to share without success, and their success is worth every penny - especially with the reduction in arguments over homework.
