Our son struggled through Algebra 1 but did manage to pass the course. However, he failed the SOL. Since he passed the class, he was moved on to Geometry, but was still trying to pass the Algebra SOL at the same time. Needless to say, he was failing at both and he was confident in only that he was going to fail.

We contacted Huntington Learning Center in Chesapeake and the first thing they tackled was the Algebra SOL. Over the next 6 weeks, they helped Chip build his confidence and go from a 380 to a 460 on his practice SOLs. This led to Chip being able to pass the retest with flying colors!

Now that the Algebra SOL was out of the way, the Huntington tutor could now focus on Geometry. The problem this time was that Chip had failed two grading periods and an exam. Huntington tutors continued to work with Chip as well as going to meetings at school. With all of their help, Chip was able to raise his final 2 grading periods high enough to pass the Geometry class and the SOL!

Our thanks go out to the Center Director and Chip's tutors at the Huntington Learning Center in Chesapeake. There is no doubt they made a difference in Chip being able to succeed. But more importantly to us, he has regained his confidence that will carry over into his future.
