I am proud to say that the Huntington Learning Center was the best choice I made for my son. He struggles with ADHD. He struggled through pre-school, kindergarten and first grade with reading and math. His self-confidence was low and frustration high. I had placed him in many educational programs, private tutoring and home schooling programs. We were just lost and frustrated, He did not want to learn. He felt learning was a chore.
We were blessed with a great first grade teacher, who was determined to help. She understood the frustration and challenges of special needs children and families because she was the parent of a special need’s child as well, because of her love to teach she was able to get him interested in school and learning. Her recommendation for the Huntington Learning Center at first was rejected because of the past experience I had in the past. All I could think of was “They are just in it for the money and my child would be repeating below grade level work!”
To my surprise they were organized and friendly. My son loved it and I started to see progress fast. His math and reading skills improved and he did not look at learning as a chore. At home I would test his knowledge just to see if he was actually learning things he would be learning at school and he actually wasn’t. His problems solving skills improved. Sometime he would show his baby brother things he learnt at Huntington. When he was told he was above grade level in school and was presented with a prize for most improved, he was smiling from ear to ear.
I am very impressed and happy with the staff at the Huntington Learning Center Fresno. I was well informed of my child’s progress. Instead of me begging to have a conference, they were hunting me down to discuss his progress and future plans/recommendations. Although time has not allowed my son to continue during the school year he has excelled in many areas. He is getting A’s in math and science. His reading is way above grade level. His love for learning at school is remarkable. He does not want to miss school even if he is ill. His progress report card makes me very proud.
